FAQs

What is Squaddle?

Squaddle is a tool that helps people organise sports games and events with minimal stress and hassle. For more on who we are and why we made Squaddle, see our About page.

Which messaging platforms do you support?

You can currently receive and respond to Squaddle notifications via email or WhatsApp. Signal is available in beta so please don't be surprised if it's a bit broken.

What email address do emails come from?

Our emails will come from info@squaddle.co.uk with the sender name showing as Squaddle. The subject will depend on the content of the notification, usually relating to a specific game or event you've been invited to.

What number do WhatsApp messages come from?

All WhatsApp messages are sent from the same number, which you'll see when you first sign up for a squad. You can save this number as Squaddle. If you join more than one squad, messages will still come from the same number as part of the same conversation.

What happens if I need to drop out after I've already said I'm in?

Email: Find any message relating to the next game and hit the OUT button.

WhatsApp: Reply OUT (not case sensitive) and your response will be changed. If you're currently confirmed in for more than one game, you'll be asked which one you'd like to drop out of.

How does the reserve list work?

Email: When you respond to an invite, you'll be taken to a web page where you can confirm your attendance and you'll be told if there is space for you to attend. If the event is already full, you'll be added to the reserve list.

WhatsApp: After responding IN, you'll receive a message confirming whether there is space for you to attend. If not, you'll be added to the reserve list. If you want to double-check or see who else is attending, reply WHO and you'll be sent a list of confirmed attendees.

If anybody drops out and you are first on the reserve list, you'll receive a notification confirming that you are now in. If you've made other plans and can no longer play, please respond OUT so somebody else can take your place.

How do I add someone to a squad?

You will need to ask your squad organiser for a joining link.

Do I need to register for an account or install an app?

No — with Squaddle, you don't have to download an app or go through a long signup process. Just add your name, choose your notification channel, and that's it.

We may launch an app in the future for those who'd prefer to use one, but you'll never have to if you don't want to.

How do I change my name, contact details, or preferences?

You can change your details and preferences on your profile page. This is accessible via a link at the bottom of any Squaddle email or by responding SETTINGS in WhatsApp.

How do I leave a squad?

You can see which squads you're a member of on your profile page. A menu next to each one gives you the option to leave. You can also ask your squad's admin to remove you.

How do I unsubscribe from all Squaddle messages?

To unsubscribe from all Squaddle correspondence, please email info@squaddle.co.uk.

What if I've noticed a bug or something has gone wrong?

If you have any issues at all, email info@squaddle.co.uk. Squaddle is currently in beta, so you may well encounter bugs from time-to-time — please let us know when you do. No issue is too small, and even if you think it might just be you not understanding something, please let us know and we'll be really grateful for the feedback.
